Global Music Connection

There are so many talented artists globally in different genres of music that are yearning for their name to be known internationally.

That's why this weekend we'll be joined by Sunjay Kohli, an expert in marketing to global audiences.

Tesselated is one of Jamaica's brightest young talents. “I express what I feel from my soul. The basis of the sound comes from my love of Caribbean drums, they bring life to everything. I believe that music and dance are inextricably intertwined from the soul – I want people to move, I want them to dance.”

Three years ago proved to be a breakthrough period for the young musician and producer. He teamed up with another young creative – Valleyz – and they became room-mates. After a night-long reasoning session, the seminal track “Pine & Ginger” was born. Tess’s goal for the track was clear in his mind. “I felt like it had the potential to be my biggest SoundCloud track to date, and was hoping it could beat my previous highest amount of listens which was about 30,000.” He didn’t have to worry. The track has racked up a staggering 30 million streams. It was also signed by an international name, which propelled the Tessellated name to a brand new audience.

Holocene personifies the world of a grunge-head teenager who loved to sing jazz. Influenced by the dark vocal-lead artists from Soundgarden to Nina Simone, I wanted my music to be a melting pot for the characters who populate my musical space and marry these two at-odds worlds of jazz and grunge into my sound.

London born and bred, I started writing music in 2011 when I was aged 15. The character 'Holocene' was more recently created by me and my brother who is a graphic novel and comic-book artist. We wanted Holocene to be an all-powerful supernatural heroine and antihero, who mirrors the themes I use in my writing. She yearns for omnipotence, whilst accepting her own complete fragility and solitude. Dealing with the side effects of unrequited love; smothered in deep femme fatale vocals, distorted guitar and bass lines, Holocene breathes a new melancholy in her sound.
