Carmen DeLeon’s “Volverás” Can Move The World

Last month Carmen DeLeon, a former finalist on La Voz Kids (Spain’s The Voice Kids), released her debut single “Volverás”. With this release, Carmen stays true to her Venezuelan-roots, choosing to write and sing entirely in Spanish, over a modern reggaeton beat. What we weren’t able to translate, we were able to feel. When we spoke to Carmen, who is bilingual, we were reminded that energy is universal. You don’t have to understand the lyrics to “Volverás” to understand how powerful Carmen is.

Even though Carmen only recently signed her deal with Capitol Music Group and Universal Music Latin Entertainment, her undeniable talent immediately got her into rooms with some of most important people in the industry. For “Volverás”, Carmen worked with Tainy, the Puerto Rican producer behind some of the globe’s biggest hits, including but not limited to Cardi B’s “I Like It”, featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

Carmen told us that she was “star struck” in the presence of Tainy, but still, she rose to the occasion, bringing to him the infectious and beautiful “Volverás (You Will Come Back)”.

Although Carmen plans to crossover into the mainstream market, she only plans on doing so if she can stay true to who she is as an artist and woman. Carmen told us that she has every intention of being a global superstar, but never at the sacrifice of being inaccessible to her fans, whom she considers her family.

Carmen came into her first single conscious of the message she wanted to share with the world. “Volverás” translating to “You Will Come Back”, expresses the all too real struggle of self worth and value. Carmen sings about toxic relationships, and the strength it takes to leave them behind. But also, she wants to remind listeners that they are in control of the energy they bring into their lives.

“You have to know what and who you want in your life. Be sure to keep the right people around, whether that be a friend or romantic partner. Make sure you know your worth!”

“Volverás” deserves every replay it gets. Carmen’s energy and soul pierces through the heavily rhythmic beat, so even if you’re busy dancing, Carmen’s voice will shine through – and you’ll notice it, because that’s what she wants.

Carmen DeLeon is proud of her voice, proud of her people, and proud of herself for getting to where she is, but still she is excited to grow, with the help of her fans. For Carmen to truly enjoy her journey, we have to enjoy it with her.

“Volverás” can be streamed on all platforms, but also be sure to check out its music video, which encompasses the energy she wants you to feel. Friends, good music, and dancing – what more could anyone want? For Carmen, it’s for the rest of the world to feel the same way.
