SRE not Sorry
Toronto’s SRE, pronounced as “sorry,” has made his presence known within the Finessed Media community and showed us that he’s ready to let the world know what his music is capable of. Currently studying psychology, he never knew he’d combine his studies with his music. And now he’s given us his latest album “Beauty in Disguyse,” showcasing inkblot art as the album cover to set the tone for what to expect in his music. The album MUST be listened to in order for you to unveil the narrative he shaped the album for and to understand his current journey in life. He bounces from genre to genre yet still maintains the ability to be genuine and vulnerable within his lyrics. Get to know SRE!
Originally a DANCER, listen to what led him to music.
Starting as a dancer gave him a great foundation in music to transition into fully pursuing it as a career. And from switching art forms, dancer to songwriter, his goals and objectives remained the same:
I just want to get your attention right away. I’m all about making sure you’re in sync with me, you don’t blink or something like that. When I’m dancing to my songs, it’s like wow this really does relate to me because I’m moving fast and I’m hitting certain stuff I didn’t even hear before. It’s coming together…how I perform on the mic, it translates through my body.
SRE’s latest album “Beauty in Disguyse” gives us so much to wonder about such as the album art and why the song list is in the order that it presents itself. For the meaning behind the album title and art, listen below:
SRE explains the narrative behind the album that unfolds as listeners go through the songs in order:
Many of SRE’s creativity comes about at the spot he’s known to take breaks at, the lake. He’ll zone out and pay close attention to the sounds that surround him as he sits there in peace, providing him with the inspiration he needs to build a song, especially for his song “Away.” This song’s purpose was to bring back the nostalgia of being a kid to the listeners, and to be one with yourself and nature.
