Sofia Carson’s empowering anthem “LOUD”
If you have not already, then you need to listen to Sofia Carson’s new single “LOUD”! It may be the daily dose you need to feel empowered to conquer your day.
SPOILERS: LOUD is a song dedicated to women to give them a voice. The song first starts out with:
“All the speeches that I made in my head
All the no’s and all that I should have said”
These lines indicate that there have been people, specifically women, who have had their voices silenced. In the press conference, Sofia made it clear that she wrote this song, along with two other amazing songwriters, to dedicate this to the voices of women breaking free and being “louder than ever.” Sofia continues to state, “[They are] using their voices to be at the forefront of history, and together, we are louder than ever.”
Later on in the song, the lines are:
“Imma speak up my mind when I want
If I was a man
Then you would understand”
These lines right here are definitely giving Taylor, The Man. *please read as it’s giving Cher TikTok* We have noticed a significant shift in the world today with women demanding the respect they deserve in the first place and to be seen as an equal in society. We have seen big names in the music industry shining light on this matter, and now Sofia has entered the chat as well. We are HERE for it! Her mother is the reason why she is FEARLESS. Now, she is inspiring other young children around the world to be brave.
Sofia Carson is making a LOUD stance in the world, as well!
She is the UNICEF’s US Ambassador. To her, “Being an Ambassador for UNICEF is the greatest honor of my life, to be able to champion for the rights of children, especially young women around the world whose voices have been silenced by unfairly being denied an education is the most important role that I will ever play.” Her first trip was traveling to Brazil, where she met with the young woman that told her UNICEF had given them more of a life by giving them an education. Sofia supported the Keep Girls in School Act, which reduces the barriers for teenage girls who do not have the access or privilege to have an education worldwide, by writing a letter to congress. Sofia mentioned at the press conference that one of her greatest influences was Audrey Hepburn because she dedicated and used her platform to give to others. We can truly see the influences being portrayed in Sofia’s work.
Another reason to fangirl over Sofia is that she is also the global ambassador of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. She started a full-ride scholarship along with the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, so Latin musicians worldwide can have the chance to make their dreams a reality at Berklee College of Music. She wants to allow them to excel academically because she understands that not everyone has the same abilities to continue their education as she had the chance to attend the University of California, Los Angeles. The music industry certainly needs more diversity, and Sofia is giving the Latinx community the chance to be exceptional.
Sofia is an actress, artist, and activist. She is clearly so much more than Evie from Descendants and managed to do so much with her career’s access. Now, go be LOUDER than ever!
