Saint Bodhi Expands Storytelling in “Antisocial”

South Central L.A. native singer, songwriter, and rapper Saint Bodhi radiates a unique authenticity that permeates into her music. She sat down with Finessed Media and other members of the media to discuss her upcoming EP Antisocial, her recording process, and the direction of her creative vision.

No stranger in the music industry, Saint Bodhi has collaborated with talent including Beyoncé, A$AP Rocky, Tinashe, and Jaden Smith (not to mention her project with Marvel’s Black Panther #23). By 28-years-old, she received her first Grammy nomination for writing LeCrae’s “Sunday Morning” duet with Kirk Franklin. These collaborations gave her confidence that “someone gets it. I can brach into my crazy ideas.”

Developing her versatile artistry as a “musical chameleon”, Saint Bodhi channels her fluctuating emotions, attuned relationship with the universe, and musical inspirations of all backgrounds (Nina Simone, André 3000, The Beatles, and Jacob Collier to name a few). What results is an unprecedented blend of hip-hop beats with soulful R&B vocals alongside influences of jazz, pop, and more styles that retell “the stories in my head.” She is present and hands-on for every sound, assuring her essence is fully encapsulated through her raw, evocative music.

Make art for the sake of making art - not for consumption

Saint Bodhi released her debut album MAD WORLD through Def Jam in October 2020, showcasing a glimpse of her mind to the world. With vibrant visual aesthetics to match the intoxicating dynamics of her album, MAD WORLD introduced who she was as an adolescent. Her singles “FlowerChild,” “Blessed,” “Gold Revolver,” and “Bad Mood” touch on her upbringing in violence and the light she brings to her dark past.

Bodhi’s new EP Antisocial will demonstrate her growth in her character during the pandemic. As she learns more of her power as a woman, she aims to maintain her strength while expressing a newfound vulnerability. Saint Bodhi explains, “It is okay to fully dive into self.” And Antisocial is a prime example of the empowerment that rises from taking that plunge.

. . . .

Antisocial will release later in 2021, so stay tuned for the drop! In the meantime, stream MAD WORLD. Also hit up Saint Bodhi and the ˚1824 team - tell them Finessed Media shares their love!
