Lauv And His Journey With Inner Child Healing In Second Album ‘All 4 Nothing

Known for viral hit '“I Like Me Better”, artist Ari Staprans Leff (known as Lauv) centers his new era of music on mental health, conversations with his younger self, meditation, self-empowerment, and more. ‘All 4 Nothing’, Lauv’s second album, brings us 13 tracks expanding his sound. Thanks to 1824, I had the opportunity to listen to Lauv speak firsthand on the development of his latest project.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with inner child visualization, it’s a meditation practice Lauv applied to his life to regain the confidence, “starpower’”, and carefreeness he possessed when he was younger. This involves occupying a quiet space and visualizing yourself speaking to a younger version of yourself. For Lauv, he revisited his childhood and had conversations with his much younger self leading to his song “Kids Are Born Stars”.

For awhile, Lauv felt like there was a disconnection between with himself and his creative process during the pandemic. Through inner child healing, he managed to release the need to be in control. Since then, he’s given us his most personal album to date touching also on his current mental and emotional state, love and relationships, and more. Fun fact, many of the songs were born out of freestyles (a form of art he implemented in his creative practices to freely create without the need to nitpick).

When I started this album, I was going through a big existential crisis, questioning everything I had and why I had it. For a long time, I thought my identity was being in-control of the creative process. But my identity is just me, and I let myself go free. My album ‘All 4 Nothing’ curates an energy of openness, wonder, and excitement, but also vulnerability and realness. I hope it opens up a vortex to something you haven’t felt in a while—a place where you can build yourself up from.

Throughout Lauv’s press conference, he dropped ideas on possible projects connecting him closer to his listeners. Those in the chat pushed for him to do a podcast titled “LAUVCAST”. Others hyped up an idea about him doing guided meditations. Just recently, however, he announced “Lauv’s Meditation Club” where fans can text this number for guided meditations or music:
