J.I. Shares His Growth In “Excuse My Pain”
When Finessed Media amongst a few other publications were invited to speak to J.I. ahead of the release of “Excuse My Pain” off his forthcoming album Hood Life Krisis Vol 3, we jumped at the opportunity to speak with the rising star.
When we spoke to J.I., we could feel how excited he was to share new music. Of course, he was ready to give something to his fans, but also because he had something to prove to himself. Since releasing “Need Me” in 2019, J.I.’s melodic expression has caught the attention of Drake, Roddy Ricch, and many more. After signing his major label deal with Interscope, J.I. told us that began taking the music “lightly”, not focusing as much as he could have on truly expressing himself. With Hood Life Krisis Volume 3, set to drop December 18th of 2020, J.I. challenged himself to create art that he’s proud of, opting to put his pen, and vulnerability, to work.
We’ve learned to know that J.I. isn’t going to put anything out that deserves less than highest of volumes, but now more than ever, we know that J.I. is ready to let you know about the man behind the music. After talking to J.I. and hearing him in interviews, we know that this 19-year-old man, is fully prepared to take on the world, and has no problems doing it while staying true to himself and the emotion that he feels.
With “Excuse My Pain”, J.I. does just that. Instead of projecting his frustrations onto the world, or the women around him, he’s choosing to attack his flaws. J.I. is aware of his toxic traits, and sharing that in his music not only makes him that much more relatable. Accountability and maturity are not often things that we associate with 19-year-olds that have just signed major label deals, but J.I is different, and has been for a while now – on December 18th, he’ll prove it to you.
It’s hard not to be excited for more music from J.I., because we know how much he cares about it. He is constantly thinking about the impact he wants his music to have, and promises us that he’s only going to get better.
The Hood Life Krisis series stemmed from wanting to escape the hood, and now it’s an escape from mediocrity. Be sure to check out Volume 3 on December 18th and keep an eye out for some very big features.
