HD4President Wins our Vote

For all of you who have gone down tiktok’s rabbit hole, you’ve definitely heard the song “Touch Down 2 Cause Hell (Bow Bow Bow)” by now! From Baton Rouge, HD4President instantly became a viral sensation for the trend that sparked from that very song. Even Lizzo, City Girls, Coi Leray, and the Jabbawockeez got involved! Though his song is still making rounds on the internet, HD4President refuses to be a one-hit wonder. Thanks to 1824, we got to know the viral sensation and his latest project To Da Max.

First things first, the million dollar question, how did the name “HD4President” come about? Here’s the breakdown:

It was all thanks to HD4President’s auntie who laid the foundation. She had nicknamed him “Harpo,” based off of a character’s same name from the film The Color Purple. For short, everyone began calling him “Hop.” So when greeted, people would ask “What’s up Hop, dawg?” Later on, it formed into “Hop Dawg” which eventually condensed to “HD.” See how it all came together yet? Let’s add the last piece of the puzzle.

Lil Wayne had a group “Squad Up” that featured a member named Mack who dubbed the line “Mack Maine for president, I probably paint the White House black with my residence.” This was where “-4President” was born, and now we have “HD4President.”

You must be wondering…what’s the secret to writing music that instantly goes viral? When asked about his writing process, HD4President simply answered “I don’t write music.” As the creative juices spark, he goes straight to the studio and does his thing. Fun fact, some of his greatest ideas came from the comfort of his own home…including the toilet (pinky promise those were his words)!
