K CAMP, the artist behind one of the most popular Tik Tok records of the year, “Lottery (Renegade)”, has now released a deluxe version to the final installment of his R&B series, KISS 5.

In April of this year, K CAMP released the original KISS 5, which continues the series in which the Atlanta-based artist focuses on creating projects that encapsulate his melodic sensibilities. When speaking about KISS 5 earlier this year, CAMP admitted that this would be the final chapter of the series, and that he was determined to end it on a high note.

K CAMP has a long history of recording melody-driven hip-hop, which might come to a surprise for those who know of CAMP because of “Lottery (Renegade)”, however, when we spoke to CAMP he shared with us that he feels most comfortable creating music that is “smooth”, that he and his fans “ride” to. His discography backs this up, but also shows how much else he can do. His goal has been and always will be to create the highest quality music that he can, but even after finishing the masterpiece that KISS 5 was, CAMP felt obligated to add some final details. For us, this means 6 brand new songs, that perfectly fit the direction of the original album, including one of our favourite features on the project, from Sevyn Streeter.

KISS 5 (Deluxe) runs a clean 20 tracks, and clocks in at just under an hour, but the sound of the album is tough to describe. Elements of the production are indicative of contemporary R&B, and the features solidify that, but still, we think you should decide. CAMP came into the album with intention of making something that his fans would love – which is what he did.

With KISS 5 (Deluxe), CAMP reminded the world of his status in the industry, working with the best artists of the now, the past, and the future. And even with a stacked feature list, he was able to curate an album that warrants an easy listen, balancing incredible features with tight solo cuts. Some of our favorites include “What’s On Your Mind?” featuring Jacquees, “Trill Love” featuring Wale and Joe Trufant, as well as the featureless, “Rude Boy”. From the deluxe additions, we love “Smart Water”, featuring Sevyn Streeter, as well as the solo record, “On The Corner”.
