Year-End Summit & Plans for 2021
It feels weird that this is my last post as an “Intern” …
Finessed Media’s 2020 Internships officially ended December 31st, 2020, but the symbolic ending happened a few weeks earlier, during our 3-day, 10-event, 10+ hour Year-End Summit. Yes, that event tired us out, but it was also the perfect way to end off our year, and our time as Finessed Interns.
I’d love to go into detail about the different events and the different lessons our panelists taught us, but honestly, it would just be too much LOL – I got pages and pages of notes, and only so much energy. So instead of talking about what we walked away learning, I’ll tell you how we walked away feeling.
We had 3 full days of events that encompassed anything and everything an artist or music entrepreneur could hope to learn. We had experts across every sector of the industry come in to share their stories and offer their wisdom. A lot of our panelists were as happy to be there, as we were to have them, most of them choosing to connect with some of our members outside of the event. There were even cases when our events helped our panelists cross-network!
The weekend was amazing, and the hours of work and stress that it took to make it happen, were all worth it.
I’ll be honest, I left the weekend drained, perfectly ready to take the next week or so off of work to recharge before getting started back up again in the new year, but the community wasn’t ready to let me rest yet. I was shocked by the inspiration and motivation that was radiating from the attendees. Before I could even close my laptop and lie down on Sunday, I had messages from a bunch of community members who were already putting their newfound knowledge to work. Thankfully, the community was understanding of my nap schedule, and let me get to work a few days later. and although we were in “holiday mode”, we still managed to connect and prepare for the new year. I could tell my help was appreciated, and if I didn’t make it clear then, I want to make it clear now, that YOUR help was appreciated as well.
To all those who attended, to everyone who reached out to us, to everyone that helped make that weekend special… Thank you. I know we say it all the time, but we couldn’t have done it without you, and knowing that you left the weekend inspired, is all we could have asked for.
Then came my “holidays”. Of course, I was stuck at home like the rest of us, but I’d like to think I made the most out of my time off. I definitely spent as much time as possible doing nothing, but I also did some planning and reflecting. I came into 2021 more excited than I’ve ever been, and I promise you, the feeling still hasn’t worn off.
Thanks to the support of our community, and the push from the Finessed Media team, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be continuing to support Finessed Media and our community in a leadership role.
This is the last post I’m writing as an Intern, but the first I’m writing as a mentor.
In 2021, I’ll continue to develop myself, not only as a writer and entrepreneur, but as a leader. With the help of Alexi and the rest of the team, I’ve already hired a couple guys that I’m very excited to work with – and you will be too! I hope that the community is willing to welcome our new batch of interns with the same love and kindness that you showed us when we first started.
I’ll end this off by saying thank you to everyone I’ve met in 2020. As hard as the year has been, I know I’m lucky to have been surrounded by people as amazing as you.
I wish us all continued success and blessings in 2021 and beyond.
Talk to you soon,
